The Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos pop up vintage hair parlour was a huge success at the 40s Sweethearts Swingout, where we helped the organisers (Grace in Africa) raise over £2,100 that night for the Morning Star charity, a day centre supporting children with HIV/Aids in Welkon, South Africa www.morningstar.org.za
The event had a 1940s theme and everyone had made a real effort to dress up, the hall was decorated with streams of bunting and WWII posters and even the tickets were 1940s style identity cards! While myself and Lizzie (from Lil Mischief hair flowers and accessories) gave customers fab vintage makeovers for donations to the charity, Jez Brown from Jez Brown Photography was busy taking pictures in the 1940s style photobooth we had set up for the event.
There was also swing dance tuition as well as a great vintage market place with stalls from Bedford based vintage emporium Rose-tinted Vintage and local vintage & customised trader Buttons and Bows.
The night included a yummy fish & chip supper that went down a treat and a raffle where some lucky person won a free vintage makeover and photoshoot from Sarah’s Doo-wop Dos & Jez Brown Photography! And after our last customer of the night myself and Lizzie took to the dance floor to swing dance the rest of the night away to the Gary Wood Swing Band. A Big thank you to everyone who came along and helped make it such a great night.
