Last Friday, May 18th I packed up the pop up vintage hair parlour and hit the road heading for Porthsmouth’s Guildhall the venue for the Three Belles spectacular ‘In The Mood’. The Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos hair station was next to the vintage shopping market and the whole venue had been brilliantly decorated with bunting and historical displays including air raid signs, sandbags, 1940s beauty posters and much more.
After styling up the girls hair for their first look of night we set about styling up the audience too! The parlour was a hive of activity and there were victory rolls galore!
The show was amazing and even included an air raid, with Bovril to keep our spirits up and a good old sing song. Then the girls did a quick change into their civilian clothing (along with a quick hair change in their rather fab dressing room), then on with the show!
The Guildhall was packed and the atmosphere was great. Myself, my partner Tom and Lizzie from Lil Mischief who’d both been assisting for the night all took to dance floor for some swing dancing to end the evening. A big thanks to The Three Belles for having us at their event, thanks to John Dorkings for use of his great pictures and a big thanks to Tom & Lizzie for their help on the night, plus a big thank you to all our lovely customers and ladies who came and had their hair styled, I hope you had as much fun as we did!
