Pennies From Heaven

I’m very excited to be organising ‘Pennies From Heaven’ a 1940s themed evening event taking place at Seventh Heaven this May to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of V.E Day.

We are holding the street party style event on Saturday May 23rd, from 8:30pm till late, under the roof of the beautiful old Arcade in Bedford and the sumptuous surroundings of the Seventh Heaven champagne bar. It really is the perfect venue for an indoor street party and I can’t wait to see it covered with bunting and full of people all dressed up!

Seventh Heaven’s Clare and Sarah have created a beautiful venue with great attention to detail, so I was really excited when they started arranging  props and decorations, you can expect something really special from them!

I’m lucky enough to know a lot of talented people  and with the help of my friend Chris White I’ve been arranging some great entertainment for the night. Our fab friends Harry & Edna on the Wireless will be setting the scene with their gramophone and playing us some tip-top tunes, plus the lovely singing sister duo My Favourite Things will be entertaining us with songs from the era, and there will also be a Burlesque performance from the gorgeous Finesse Temptress. I’m very excited to get all these fab local acts on the same bill as I work with them all regularly as individuals and they all put on a great show!

During the day I will be on site with my 1940s pop-up beauty parlour at Seventh Heaven between 2pm-7pm, offering vintage hair and make-up to guests to ‘keep your beauty on duty’. The price list is below, just email me on to book in.

Price list:

£15 Vintage hair, victory rolls, curls

£20 Vintage hair and make-up (eyes, lips and brows)

The fab Get Nailed by Keely will be joining me in the parlour offering vintage manicures, to book in with her, just email her price list is below:

Price list:

£5-8 special offer moon polish

£15-18 moon gels

There will also be gin cocktails and a well stocked bar, lots of delicious cake, a pop-up photo-booth full of fun props plus we’ll be giving out prizes for the best dressed. 1940s civilian clothing is encouraged so dig out your best gear! Winner goody bags include for the ladies; vintage make-over vouchers from me (Sarah’s Doo-Wop Dos) and afternoon tea vouchers from Seventh Heaven. For the men’s prizes Bedford’s finest gentlemen’s emporium Harrison and Simmons are providing the gifts packs.

For those in need of outfit inspiration why not check out the Pinterest board I’ve created here: we will also have Claireabella’s Closet trading with us on the night for all your clothing needs, from gorgeous dresses to her own branded stockings or if you are in need of an outfit for the night just take a look at her site online here. If you are local to Bedford why not pop into one of our fab dress stores in town such as Bohemian Finds, Lady K’s or Thriftee’s.

Tickets for the event are just £15 with a donation being made to the Help for Hero’s charity, and including the first glass of champagne. They can be purchased directly from the shop (located at 17 The Arcade, Bedford) or by ringing the team at Seventh Heaven on 01234 589013. Vintage photographer Jez Brown will be with us taking lots of event pics on the night to capture all the fun, so dig out your best 1940s attire and come along!

Lastly a big thank you to everyone who has got involved and helped out so far, please keep spreading the word about our event and I hope to see you all there!doowopdo-signiture
